9 month check

Our little baby boy is growing quickly. Had his wellness check this morning, the longest I think we have ever waited. They actually gave him his shots first since the doctor was so far behind. Luckily he expressed only a little discomfort for his shots a quick cry and it was over. He has a rash that comes and goes, she said it appears to be a type of eczema. I think I have narrowed down the irritation to something we use at bath time so we are going to try a new body and hair wash along with getting rid of any fragrance laundry soap, lotion and dryer sheets we use on his clothing. He has a little fluid behind his right ear but since he doesn't have a fever and not bothered by it no medication needed at this point. Other than that he is doing great. Has 4 teeth and his top two incisors are close to pushing through. Becoming a crawling pro and pulling himself up on anything he can get to. He is 20lbs 1oz and 29 1/2 inches long. That puts him in the 50% for weight and 75% for height.

Arizona - Relaxation

Just returned from a short but relaxing weekend trip to Arizona with my sis

Thanks Kathy and Dad for the wonderful trip. Thanks Kirk for being a single dad for the weekend.

We spent the weekend at a spa resort that involved spa treatments, wonderful breakfasts, shopping, restaurants, movies, hiking and catching up with an old friend.

Just before our first massage.

Why would anyone design a car with the console in the center of the dash?

Pedicures and sandals :)

Scenic sites

April and I, haven't seen each other in about 10 years.

Science Fair

A while back Mallory came home with a permission slip to enter the science fair. I asked her if she wanted to participate and she said yes. So the next thing was to decide on the experiment. They didn’t have any limitations other than size. Her only idea was a volcano which I thought would be too much work so I asked the organizer for some ideas and she sent home the program from last year. I read off some of the titles to Mallory and she liked the Egg Float idea. So we went with it.

One week until the science fair and we hadn’t even started yet. I told her we would work on it after Sunday school which ended up being perfect timing since we were basically stuck inside due to another big snow storm. We started with the poster board first, with a title and her name then it was time to start the experiment.  Then she made a chart to predict if she thought the egg would float or sink. Then we got four glasses of water and mixed in different things that would dissolve in the water (salt, sugar and baking soda).  Now time for the egg … only we don’t have any eggs left.  Darn will have to wait to finish the experiment.
Monday Kirk was out clearing the driveway for the Xth time this year and he asked our neighbor for a couple eggs. Yeah we are back in business. So Mallory took an egg and put it in each glass and wrote down the results on a new chart.  We also took pictures of the egg floating or sinking in each glass.

I printed the results and pictures on Tuesday and she was finished with her project that evening. The science fair was on Thursday evening. The same night I flew out to Arizona so I missed it but sounds like she did a great job and had a lot of fun.  It was so cute having her explain what her experiment was about … the egg being more or less dense than the water J
