Girl Scout Camp

Girl scout camp was this week. It was a day camp from 9 - 4 Monday through Thursday.  Anna was a great auntie and volunteered to go with Mallory each day of camp. I attended on Monday and Thursday.
Mykaela was signed up for sibling camp. Right off she didn't want me to go and I had to have the lady running it hold her while I left for the day. I think she had a lot of fun but it was a long day. I asked her everyday the rest of the week if she wanted to go back but she decided she wanted to stay home.
Day one of girl scout camp was about setting up and starting to get to know each other. There wasn't a huge turn out this year so the 1st and 2nd graders were combined into one group of 18 girls. The parent volunteers were there to mainly observe and make sure things are running smoothly. The 'caddies' were responsible for helping the girls and leading the camps.
All the girls from unit A. Amazing Alligators. (my camera lens was dirty)
They had a Indian tribe member come and talk about their culture, dancing and outfit.

Anna was pretty much an extra caddie. She helped keep the girls busy when times were slow. Here they are playing frogger.

What would be camp if there wasn't crafts. They made necklaces, leather pouches and hair clips on the first day

Anna was the eyes and ears on Tuesday and Wednesday so hopefully I can get some of the snapshots she took. Tuesday they had a severe weather warning and had to head to the sibling lodge but that was over quickly. Mallory isn't too descriptive on exactly what they did those two days. I know that on Tuesday they did hot dogs over a campfire for lunch. There was also a person with exotic animals. Kangaroo, Lemur and Hedgehog were some of the animals. On Wednesday there was a person with reptiles and he had a huge snake (Mallory and Keira held it) a lizard with a blue tongue and an iguana. By Wednesday evening Mallory had come home from camp singing songs and hand clapping games.

Thursday I was back at camp with her. First thing that morning they had their chance to do the flag ceremony. This was the first one ever for Mal. The girls did great. Mallory was at the end of the line because they go by height.
You could also tell the girls were a lot more comfortable with each other because they were a lot more rumbustious and harder to keep them focused.

There were not as many activities planned on the last day mainly because it is clean up day and there had been a lot of rain during the week so the camp site was nice and muddy not to mention the tent where they were keeping their back packs. I think there was 2 inches of mud and water inside the tent. yuck. I am hoping I can get most of that mud out of Mal's backpack and lunch bag.

At the end of the day everyone made the trip to the sibling lodge area to perform their skits and exchange SWAPS. Their unit did 'A bunch of little alligators jumping on the bed'

Wish I would have gotten a pick of Mal and Anna together. Mallory had an awesome time and said she wants camp all summer so I guess she will want to do it again next year :)
