Information Dump

I will start with December since that is where we left off.

Erin came by to visit one Saturday in Decemeber. She and the girls baked some chocolate chip cookies and then we headed downtown to the holidazle parade. It was snowing that day, one of the first of few days we received snow this winter. The snowflakes were huge and perfect for snowball fights and snowmen so we had some fun playing in the snow while we waited for the parade to begin.

My baby is growing up, Mallory turned 7 on December 9th. This was the first year that she didn't go in for a wellness check. I will have to take measurements myself to see how much she has grown in the last year. We had her birthday party at pump it up. It is great that they take care of everything for you but after the big chunk of change I think I will start having the kids parties with a couple of friends and call it a day.

It didn't help that Kirk was on call the 2 weeks leading up to Christmas but luckily he was only called out a few times and I was off of work the starting the Wednesday before Christmas through New Years day.

It was a month of Christmas programs and Christmas parties. Marshall and Mykaela were in a Christmas program at school, which happened to be the night of Mallory's birthday. They both did great. Marshall's part was to jingle bells but he spent the majority of the song sucking on them instead. Mykaela and her class sang a handful of songs and she even had a line to remember and say in the microphone 'H is for Herald Angels in the Night'. All of the kids had Christmas parties at school. They were on the same day but different times so I was able to attend both parties. Mallory and Mykaela also participated in the Christmas program at Church unfortunately I had a hard time seeing them from where we were sitting but all the kids did wonderful.

My mom and PJ came up to celebrate Christmas with us the weekend before Christmas. A good thing about the unseasonably warm winter without snow is that they were able to make the trip without having to worry about the weather. We celebrated at our house with my sister and her family and my brother and his family. We decided to try the Philben grab bag game for the adults this year. Basically we take turns picking a present from the middle or taking a gift from someone else. The game starts with everyone drawing a number. I had an idea before the game to give a "prize" to the person who draws #1. Well we have a White Elephant gift that has been floating around our family for a few years and I figured it was time to part with it. No one knew I was doing this so to Barbie's surprise she is back in possession of the wonderful Mary and Baby Jesus statue.

We didn't get a chance to visit Santa this year but I knew it would be another crying picture for Marshall and I wasn't up to waiting in line. I told Mallory she will have to draw a picture of Santa for the scrapbook since I don't have a picture for this year. Once again the kids were spoiled at Christmas. Kirk and I purchased a 4 story Barbie sized doll house for the girls and a train table for Marshall. Marshall loves the trains and the train table. He gets very upset if they stop but does like to help them along the track once they get to him. The favorite toy for the girls is probably the LeapPads, they are basically an Ipad but for kids. They are on their 3rd round of batteries in less than a month I think it is time to get some rechargeable batteries.

On Christmas morning Mykaela was very surprised to see that there was a pile of toys and a stocking filled for her. In amazement she said 'I was naughty and I got toys?' I guess it was really starting to sink in when I told her she better start acting better otherwise she will be on the naughty list and not get any presents from Santa.

My 13 day vacation at home consisted of donating baby items to a women's shelter, bringing Mykaela to get her hair cut, dentist appointments for the girls (Mykeala was brave and went back by herself and let them clean her teeth and take x-rays) , trip to the MN zoo, play date with friends, ice skating, and science museum with some friends.

New Years Eve we went over to the Spechts. We ended up going home after it started snowing and seeing how big the flakes were and how fast they were coming down. But before we left I won a game of Apples to Apples :) New Years day was the usual get together at Kirk's aunt and uncle's house. I figured the kids wouldn't be sledding this year but thanks to the snow on New Years Eve most of the kids were out there sledding. A fun time as usual.

One more fun picture winter means static hair

Each of the kids have had at least one round of being sick over the last month. Marshall came down with the virus Roseola just before Christmas, Mallory started getting sick the last week of school but was so heart broken about the idea of missing one day of school she went even though she wasn't feeling 100%. Marshall was sick again last week, he had a fever for 3+ days and a double ear infection. Mykaela was home today because she had a low fever this morning.

Marshall is starting to vocalize a little more but has also started throwing temper tantrums at home. Some of his words include
'Mama' is milk
'Ca Ca' is Car or Truck
'Choo Choo' is train
Kitty
No
Yeah
Cheese
'Tank You' is thank you
