Birthday / Dance Pictures

Marshall's birthday was on Wednesday. His usual doctor was about to go on vacation so the only day I could get him in was on his birthday. Poor guy had his thumb pricked and 3 shots. But he recovered quickly better than the girls do. His stats are 21 lbs 6 ounces and 30 3/4 inches tall. Other change to have him rear facing in the car seat until age 2.

The girls had dance pictures in the evening. Here are a few snapshots I took of them on Wednesday. Even though they weren't suppose to practice. Mallory's teacher took advantage of having everyone there to have them run through the dances a few times. I had to pull Mallory out so we could get home and have cake with Marshall before he went to bed.

programs/family/baptism/birthday party

Another full week at the Thorsen house. Of course it was beautiful outside during the week and rainy and storms most of the weekend. No major storms at our house but our back yard is basically a muddy swamp (as a few of the kids at the birthday party on Sunday found out first hand) As I sit here writing this it is raining yet again ...

Tuesday was the last girl scout meeting of the year for Mallory. I think she had a lot of fun participating in girl scouts. They spent a majority of the night working on things for their day camp that was suppose to be on Saturday but unfortunately was cancelled due to weather. She has a 4 day camp at the end of June hope the weather is better for that. Wednesday was dance night as usual next week is picture day so no practice.Thursday was Mallory's Kindergarten program called 'Going on a picnic'. All four kindergarten classes sang together. They did a great job. Ashley and Grandpa Paul joined us. I didn't take any snapshots but do have video hopefully I will find time to upload some of it (We didn't have the best view) Friday Mykaela's class invited parents and friends for the last 30 min of class and they sang us the songs they knew. I will also upload some video of her class signing (not promising :) )
The rest of the week was focused on the Sunday activities. Krista took Mykaela and I shopping at Sam's on Friday evening. Then Kirk and I cleaned up around the house Saturday morning. Then the crew started to arrive. Owen and Olivia came over around 10 because Krista and Jason were participating in a golf charity event for the day. Erin and Grandpa Paul came over for a few hours to play with the kids. Mallory and I snuck out to do a few more shopping errands for Sunday. When we got back to the house Grandma Peggy, Grandpa Pj, Nick, Barbie, Sophie and Stella had arrived and Erin and Grandpa Paul had gone home. The kids spent the evening playing and providing entertainment. It is quite the task making sure you have all the kids together when everyone is outside.

Sunday went quicker than Saturday. The baptism went fairly well. I think it helped Owen and Olivia that they were able to play in the water a few weeks ago. Marshall was doing fairly well until he noticed that I was standing behind him. He has become quite attached and only wants me to hold him if I am around. As you can see from the pictures :) Hopefully I can snap a few of him with his god parents when he is actually happy.

Marshall with his god parents. Erin Ryan Anna and Matt. Also happens to be Matt's 18th Birthday.

Family picture. Didn't realize I was standing so far from Mykaela :)
Back to our house for dinner and Marshall's Birthday Party. Typical party crew and activities. Food, cake, quilt squares, family, friends and fun.

His actual birthday is on Wednesday.

Quite the crew of kids at his party.
Time for cake

Wasn't very happy that the frosting and cake were sticking to his fingers.

Not quite sure he likes it yet.

Big handful in his mouth.

Has been a great year and has gone way to fast. Happy Birthday to our little guy!

Weekend wrap-up

A couple weeks ago Ashley was on vacation so we had family over to watch the kids (thanks Dad, Kathy and Erin). Here are a few cute pictures I found on the other camera.

Friday evening the girls and I had a girls night out. We had dinner at subway with a quick stop in at Cub to find some pink cupcakes since we were going to the play/musical Pinkalicious. We had a lot of fun. Here are the girls dressed in Pink.
Love how cute Mallory looks in this picture (Mykaela looks cute as well)

We were in the first row balcony because of the lighting in the theater you can't see the stage behind them very well in this picture.

Saturday I headed over to Krista's to work on some scrapbooking. I am happy to say I have completed my first scrapbook :) Sure there are a few things I would change but feels good to have one completed. Next I can start on Marshall's by the time I get started I will already be 1 year behind. Headed home for a few hours before heading back to the Spechts to celebrate my dad's birthday (check out Krista's blog for some cute pictures). While I was home Kirk noticed the dog had a hot spot so off to the vet Kirk and Cosmo went and returned home with a shaved upper leg, cone on head and antibiotics.

Sunday Kirk was able to get in his first round of golf with Jason, Jer and Matt. Was a bit windy but I think they had a good time. The kids and I did the usual church, errands and chores around the house. I was able to get the rasberries in the ground. Maybe I will be able to get to the garden this week ... well see have to plan and get everything ready for the big party on Sunday (baptism and birthday) Yep Marshall will be 1 on the 25th wow that year went fast!

Activities

Busy as usual with something happening on each night last week.

Kirk and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary. Maybe one of these nights we will find the chance to get out just the two of us. Seems there is either something planned or we both fall asleep early on the couch. Pretty exciting I know :)

Here are a few pictures from the weekend. Saturday was beautiful outside so we went to the carnival at Mallory's school and then home to start on an unplanned yard project. We trimmed off the bottom branches of the big pine tree in the front yard. It looks really nice only now you are able to see that the tree is slightly slanted to the west.

Mykaela had the camera the other day and here are a few that made me smile

Field trip, girl scouts, and trees

We were busy almost every night this week. The girls and I did a little shopping Tuesday night at the Mall. Wednesday Mallory had a field trip to a town that shows how things were 100 years ago. I didn't get too many details from her but she would answer things if I asked the right question. Like did they have TVs, were their bathrooms outside.
Wednesday night was dance and we came home with recital outfits. They have pictures on May 25th. Thursday night was ride night for the girl scout troop at Nickelodeon Universe. That was their celebration of choice for selling all of their cookies. I was surprised about some of the rides Mallory did and didn't want to ride. It was a fun night. The Pepsi roller coster, swings and splat-o-sphere were a few of her favorites. My actually give Valleyfair a try this summer.

Friday Krista texted me to see if I was interested in shopping and dinner. Kirk gave the ok so I was off again. Picked up a few deals at Old Navy, dinner at Applebees (Thanks Krista for dinner) and finished up the night picking up a few items at Target.
Saturday morning Mallory and I braved the rain and went to the Tree Sale. Good thing she was the only one I had with since I am not sure how I would have gotten anything else home. We purchased a Spring Snow Crab and Glenleven Linden. Got home and cleaned up so that we could head over to the postponed Easter egg hunt, they ended up having it indoors since the weather still wasn't cooperating. The girls had fun and even got to pick out a gift from the goodie table. After lunch we were surprised to see the sun. Maybe that is what sparked the girls getting 'dressed up' they even wore their costumes to Home Depot. We picked up a few flowers, rasberry bushes, topsoil and mulch. Then home to plant our newly purchased 'Jana' trees. (Miss you tons Aunt Jana!)

Kirk and Mallory were off to Princess and Frog night from 7-9. Not exactly sure what all they did. I know it was sports themed and with a dance. That they got their picture taken but was taking forever to print so they will get the picture to our troop on Tuesday. Mallory seemed to have enjoyed it. Marshall, Mykaela and I hung out at home. Mykaela and I did our nails and she did my make up.

Sunday was fairly low key. The girls went to Sunday School and then we spent the rest of the day at home cleaning and doing laundry.

Note to self take more pictures of Marshall :) His seventh tooth has broke through. Can't believe he will be 1 in a month!
