Easter Eggs

Seems like most of the weekend involved eggs.

The girls colored eggs with Ashley on Wednesday (I had her bring the eggs home because I knew we would have more by the end of the weekend) Friday we went over to the Spechts house for the second round of coloring. Marshall was sleeping so he missed out.

Saturday the kids were invited to a few easter egg hunts. The first one was post poned to next weekend due to the weather. The second one was sponsored by one of the girl scout troops at a park just down the street. It was a bit chilly but we decided to go anyway. They had the eggs all over the ground and had the kids run and pick them up. Then they had a drawing for the donated gifts they had from various organizations. After Mallory's name was drawn I decided it was time to go it was taking to long and we were cold and tired.

After a much needed nap for Mykaela we were off to Kirk's parents house. There was the usual Easter activities, coloring eggs, egg hide/search, decorating easter bunny cake and dinner. Only bummer was the battery on my camera died after my first couple pictures of Marshall with an egg (Kaylen didn't bring her camera and Dave's was charging)

He basically just picked up the egg and smashed it on the try a few times before it ended up on the floor.
Sunday morning the girls didn't forget about the easter bunny and wanted to see if he came. Luckily the Easter bunny did not disappoint. Kirk ran and got the girls donuts (mallory's request) then we quickly got dressed and out the door for church. We were a little late and had to sit out in the hall, that was probably better since Marshall was over tired and didn't want to just sit for long. After a short nap for Marshall we were on our way to my dad's for late lunch. We had another easter egg hunt and more baskets which were actually bonnets for the girls.

A lot of family and fun this weekend. Had a great time!

Square Foot Gardening

Attempted a small garden last year with little research and about 50/50 results. There is a lot of room for improvement. Krista found a course through community ed on square foot gardening that was tonight. It was a great course with a lot of useful information and I am excited to get started. There is also a great website that the instructor pointed us to that allows you to indicate the size of your square foot garden and pick what you want to plant then you can print out the details of how you need to plant and how to care for your garden. http://www.gardeners.com/ Click on Kitchen Garden Planner and then click design your own and you are on your way :)

fair, party, zoo, singing

Friday evening the girls and I went to a girl scout event. It was international night, different troops had booths about a country of their choice. Keira and her mom Kim joined us. They went around and got their passport stamped and sampled a few of the treats. They had the most fun making the masks at the Brazil table. On our way out the snow had started and woke up Saturday morning to about an inch on the grass. Luckily it had melted by the afternoon.

Mallory had a birthday party at the Blast in Eagan so Mykaela and I hung out for a few hours. Target run, visit to the MN zoo and then an ice cream treat before we went back to pick up Mallory.

Turkeys at the Zoo

Saturday night I went out to dinner with Jodi. I can't remember the last time we were able to get together and talk. It was great catching up with her. Hope to see her again soon.

Sunday we made quite a few trips to church. The girls had Sunday school which was basically choir practice. We ran over to the Spechts to grab some lunch then back to discuss the Baptism proceedings for next month and then home for about 1 1/2 hours before returning for the Spring Concert. Kirk's parents and my dad were able to attend. All the kids walked in and took their places and then started singing. It was great entertainment. A lot of the younger kids were very enthusiastic including Mykaela (see previous post for part of the concert Mykaela in the teal sweater in front and Mallory is on the right second row from the top). Marshall seemed to enjoy the singing even seemed to join in a few times. Afterwards told Mallory she should smile more and she said "I don't care" not sure if that was because she didn't like that I noticed or what. Then home to unwind before the week.

weekend pictures

Busy as usual

Another busy week has passed quickly.

Mykaela had a field trip to the zoo with Erin, my Dad, Kathy and Olivia on Thursday. Mallory still wants to go with Erin my offer to take her wasn't good enough. Thursday night we headed to the Spechts for dinner and the kids had a blast playing outside. Jason was working on putting together the new swing/play set and the kids couldn't wait to try it out. All Mykaela would ask after that day was when can we go back and swing on the glider since that was the one thing that wasn't up before we left. I was on a mission to find a gilder of our own over the weekend and was finally successful, fleet farm to the rescue, the girls love it and is great because they can both be on it at the same time.

Friday evening the girls and I headed to the Family Story Time sponsored by River Hills Nursery School (where Mykaela will go next year) it was a free event with games, prizes, story reading, a bounce house and a book fair. Mykaela was a little shy at first but then started to have fun. They each came home with a hard cover book and stuffed animal compliments of Kohls.

Saturday morning Mykaela and I ventured out to get her glasses fixed. I was surprised how quickly they were able to fix them and even happier that it was free. Saturday afternoon we stopped over at the neighbors to celebrate Vincent's 2nd birthday. It was nice seeing some of the neighbors again. We even brought the bounce house over (on a side note found the missing cover, it was inside th bounce house :) )

Sunday the girls went to Sunday school and I stopped to ask Pastor Walt about the baptism. We are still on for the 22nd just need to set up a time to discuss the baptism and get the information for Owen and Olivia turned in. I was also reminded that the girls have a church concert next Sunday at 3:00 The rest of the day we spent outside playing, riding on the new glider swing and a much needed trip for groceries. Unfortunately both Marshall and Mykaela are coming down with another cold. Tonight we proped up Marshall's mattress I am hoping that helps him with his breathing tonight ...

I have pictures but will have to post later when Kirk is done playing video games :)

On Goings

I have been avoiding blogging ... not sure if it is being overwhelmed, not sure what to blog about or feeling like I am not a good story teller.

Happenings from the last month:
I have misplaced my camera. I need to get copies of the pictures Krista has taken, in the mean time I will need to look harder.
Mykaela was sick one weekend - high temperature, cough, runny nose, and pink eye to top it off
Mallory was home for 11 days on spring break. Had a couple of play dates, Sidney and Keira
Marshall is climbing stairs, giving hugs (loves) and finds his sisters hillarious

Took to get the kids pictures taken with bunnies Saturday morning. They turned out pretty good, would have liked a few more snapshots of Marshall and Mykaela was making a silly smile in some of them.

Niece Stella turned 1 today. Happy Birthday! Her party was at the Y over the weekend. The kids had a blast. Was great having my Mom and Pj in town. You will need to check Krista's blog to see pictures.
